  1. Your right "Nobody" the flower has only four petals! I have been barking up the wrong tree! I'm very sorry, now I must look in another direction. Thank You........ The French made swords with cast handles, what is the favorite flower of France?
  2. Any sword collectors in Japan ever hear of American Civil War replica swords being made or used for any purpose in Japan between WW1 and WW2? I have a real odd bird of a sword that has a blade stamped W.H. Horstmann & Sons, in a USN motif, but the handle is a solid brass casting with faux Sharkskin. The odd thing is the cherry blossom on the guard! No sword from this period, that I have seen, looks like this. I think my Grandfather got it in Japan after WW2? Collectors here think it's a reproduction.
  3. So, Nobody The only Sukisada with a mei like that is the one from the early kamakura period. That would make my blade from the 1200's. But, the fuchi-kashira artist Kaneyuki is from the 1700's. The sword may have been rebuilt? If the blade is that old, it might explain why the tsuba looks like it was made by a caveman! Would you like to take a shot at reading the mei on it ? Craig
  4. I posted a better picture of the nakago on the original post. Thank you for responding so quickly. I'm new to sword collecting. Just got this sword and a Kanemoto, which I am going to take to a shinsa in San Francisco this Summer.
  5. I have a Wakizashi with a mei I can not figure out, and the same sword has a signed Fuchi. I would appreciate any help......Thank you, Craig
