I like that Gold Lacquered Mempo, don't see many of those. Real aggressive looking

I've bought a couple of pieces from them before. Not your typical Japanese dealer. There lacks some honesty and honour there that I would expect from a Japanese dealer. My last experience did not go well (this is going back a little while), I wanted to buy an item and suddenly when it came time to finalize they jumped the price up by 30%. Maybe an internal error but no effort was done to soften the situation. Left a bitter taste in my mouth and since there are plenty more dealers out there I'll test the waters elsewhere next time. Hey Guys, its been a while since I was last on the board, mostly due to my work relocation. Its good to be home! I was wondering if there is a sword study group within the greater Vancouver area? Haven't put much effort yet to find out and so I figured this would be a good place to start. Seattle is a bit of a drive from here but I might be crazy enough to do that occasional trip down if there exists one there and not here. Any direction would be much appreciated.

Thank you again Tobias, and also Markus for your recent addition to the post. That seems odd, I've never seen a signature of a bird before. Has anyone seen this on a blade or has this ever been recorded before? Judging from that I would immediately mark it off as fake since I've never come across anything similar. Any expert regarding this matter would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again to everyone so far!

Hi Veli and Tobias, thank you both for your feedback. Unfortunately I don't have the blade in actual hand so i can't take any better pics or reduce the red rust. The mountings appear to be authentic WWII and the blade looks to be traditional Japanese folded, any thoughts of what it might be? Really doesn't look like a typical Chinese fake. Good luck with the return, similar case happened to me a few years back when I thought I was getting a great deal, as mentioned above its better to deal with a reputable dealer. That being said if your getting something this cheap your guard should be already up, doesn't a polish cost more than what you paid for it?
