Piers I have found a reference to a Hirochika working Anei1772-1781 in Sesko’s Swordsmiths of Japan . Do you think this could be him? Ian
-
I can’t find any information on the smith but as you say the Nakago looks quite new poss Gendai, I’ve only seen the pictures and have not been able to find a Gendai or Shinshinto smith with this name… Ian

Thank you in advance.. Ian PS Have any members found this book useful?

Thanks Steve I never considered TOSHI and I was looking at Gendai/Showa well off with the period….. the Tang is so clean and in mint condition.. Many thanks for the info. Ian

My friend has sent me another Mei and I’ve spent most of the day trying to figure it out but I’ve failed again, the tang has very distinct yasuremei which I’m sure I’ve seen before but my memory is letting me down, any help is most welcome…. I think it may be Shigehide but I can’t find anything like this… thank you Ian

Thanks everyone for your opinions, does anyone know of any pictures/oshigata for the Mei “Ko Nyudo” as mentioned in Sesko’s book? Ian
-
Dear members A friend asked me to read a Mei for him which he was struggling with. I read this as “Ju Toeizan Shinobigaoka no Hotori Ko Nyudo” which I believe is a late Mei of Kotetsu. Unfortunately I am unable to find any examples of this Mei. On studying the Mei it appears to be very thickly struck but most of the Kotetsu Mei I found are thinner in comparison. is there a possibility that this is a “Kajihei” fake? Any information is appreciated. Many thanks Ian

I read the two characters on the left as Marunaga (I may well be wrong) but I have no idea what the rest is, this is the only picture I have… any information is most welcome. thank you in advance. Ian

I’ve had this Waki for years and wondered whether they could all be by the same artist ( Jakushi ), the Fuchi and Tsuba are signed but not the Kozuka…. Sorry the pictures are not too good…. What do you think the possibility that they might be by the same man. Thank you Ian

Grev Nice pictures, Peter was a bit of a recluse and there aren’t many pictures of him (with his consent that is). Ian -

Only just found this post. I’ve known Peter since the early seventies, 70% of my collection came from him, I would look after his table at the Birmingham arm’s fair which gave me the opportunity to see all the blades.. we had some good times, he will be greatly missed within the sword fraternity, I was not informed of the funeral date and so missed it. god bless you Peter 😢😢 Ian
