Kanehisa wakizashi for auction was signed suriage koto blade with gnome hamon no bad problems some ware.In part samurai part gunto mounts . Wakizashi with battle wrap tsuka was O suriage koto with wide gnome hamon and very healthy boshi sue mino i think. It had some strange spacers on the habaki but the patina looked same as habaki so i thinh thay were original. Katana was listed as shinshinto or later blade with hamon not visable becouse of poor war time polish had a very bad Kesho polish which was of ww2 or earler as i was the first to remove the handle i think since ww2 as i had to bash it off.so do not think it was a collectors polish. Not flash but origanal Japanese ( i thought about robing the minuki )But i did not best part of the sword.I like swords to remain ubu even if not jojo saku. These are not top end itoms but not low class s**t. I know mino swords are not highly thought after . But from koto to still be around must have some good points. Pictures can be posted if reguired every thing was stated in auction if you can not read or under stand do not bid Regards Bernard Nothing agenst the chat group you do a great job but i think we need to think before coment on sale itoms.

I was sent a page by a friend Kindai gimei of kurihara nobuhide what is kindai? On one gimei is stated work of skilled counterfiter from niigata area the other kindai gimei that was made in the tokyo area so i take it from this that some thing is known about these counterfeiters. And this interests me as it is part of this blades history. much better not been gimei though but it is. Yes some fool drilled the peg out and enlarged the hole. was told buy a polisher the blade was made same time as nobuhide. Is this gisaku or a unsigned blade made gimei Bernard

Why does a silver foil habaki indicate shinto shinshinto? Bernard
-
The iron plate is not flat it has been hammered out of shape! The blade looks late shinshinto very little sori. Bernard

I have seen on a lot of old blades the ha machi is almost gone or all gone so the habaki will not lock tight!or if under stress would fail.are these koto blades seen as art and not for use? Bernard When polished why is the ha machi not made deeper to make the habaki fit and not be sharp and cut in to the habaki? Bernard

I picked up a wakizashi latley and it had copper spacers on the habaki.Thay were the same shape as the habaki and about as thick as a sepa 3 in all thay looked old. same colour as the habaki one way of geting the rattle away. Bernard

I would say the blade is gimai as there seems very little skill was in its forging .it has a hamon but that is the best going for the blade. The handle is the best i have found so far.In the pictures it looks as though the tiger is worn and coper is showing through but this only shows in my pictures even magnified i can not see this in hand so i think the tiger is solid not plated Sorry about my spelling Bernard
