Hello, thank you for letting me participate in your forum, it is appreciated. I am 55 yrs old and have resided in s Florida all of my life. Have had an interest in Nihonto for awhile but events over the last 15 years or so have hindered me a bit from seriously collecting anything. (3 different times other family members have moved in w/my wife and I for several years at a time. This has taken a lot of our time and resources) App a year ago I purchased my 1st Nihonto. Thought I may have to sell not long after acquiring as my son was starting college but have been able to keep, at least for the time being. As time has permitted I have been researching the sword off and on for the last app year. My knowledge at this point is extremely limited to say the least. I have searched the net and purchased "The Connoisseur's Book" and am trying to decide which book(s) to obtain next. The sword that I obtained is a Suriage Nakago I believe w/mei of Kanemoto. I have been trying to determine over the last year if it is a 2nd generation or later generation. There appear to me (someone with little knowledge) to be characteristics that may indicate 2nd gen and some that seem to indicate later. I am going to try to load pics and hope they load, I am not very computer literate. The Sanbon-Sugi hamon is a bit uniform and regular, but the boshi forms jizo. I am under the impression that "uniform" hamon may indicate later and boshi may indicate 2nd gen(?) The Nagasa is app 30 1/4" w/sori of app 3/4". The sori appears to me (which means little or nothing) to be Tori-Sori possibly leaning towards Koshi-Sori. Due to the uniformity of the hamon I had basically discounted it being 2nd generation however, Bonhams Auction had listed a couple of Kanemoto's that were attributed to 2nd generation eventhough the hamon was very similar to this sword. I was hopeful that the board members may comment on their opinion as far as the generation that may have produced this sword. I hope the pics are sufficient. iThank you for your time and consideration, it is much appreciated !! Dave J
