mfarrar Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Hi, Picked this up today to mount on a sword. Can anyone tell me what it is signed and whether the signature looks genuine. Cheers, Mark Quote
docliss Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Dear Mark The inscription on you tsuba reads, I think, SOHEISHI NYUDO SOTEN SEI. Sadly, this is not SÅten work, but is one of many, poor quality copies of Hikone-bori that were produced by the Aizu ShÅami workers in the second half of the C19. You will find several, recent references to this type of work in past postings to this message board. Regards, John L. Quote
mfarrar Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 thanks thought it was probably a gimei but I got it cheap and it looks good on the sword, a real one would probably be too good to mount anyway! Quote
