Steve Waszak Posted January 1, 2020 Report Posted January 1, 2020 Happy New Year all! On offer here are two steel tsuba, an Owari Sukashi and a Kanayama. Both date from the Momoyama to earliest Edo Period. Below are the details on each. 1. Owari sukashi tsuba. Motif is tea whisks, folded fans, and ginger, I believe. 8.1cm x 6mm thick. A classic, beautiful Owari design. See Sasano's silver book for a very similar example. Great condition and color. $1,700 plus shipping. 2. Kanayama (or Owari) tsuba. Motif looks to be koto and gourd. 7.3cm x 5mm thick. As with the Owari guard above, the color is excellent, as is the condition. This Kanayama piece is a little more reserved and "quiet" than Kanayama often due; this may place it in the early Edo Period rather than Kanayama (or perhaps the patron simply requested a more conservative expression ). Some may attribute the tsuba to Owari rather than Kanayama for this reason as well. $2,200 plus shipping. I can provide more photos for those seriously interested. Cheers, Steve
Steve Waszak Posted January 2, 2020 Author Report Posted January 2, 2020 Bump plus incentive: I am going to offer a 15% discount on either/both tsuba to anyone who responds and would like to purchase by 12:00 noon PST (U.S. West Coast time) Saturday. Between Saturday noon and Sunday noon, the discount drops to 10%. What is it Mariusz says about tarts? Cheers, Steve
