Akasaka Tsuba

Kiri and Window, or Kiri and Trellis design.

7.2cm x 7.0cm        Thickness at Seppa dai:  5.5mm     at Mimi: 5mm

This one has an extremely wet patina. If it were any other school, they'd probably call it 'Yakite' as it is as wet as any Edo Kanayama 'Yakite'.

Highly reflective, so I wish I had a filter for the photos. Three layer Akasaka contruction very visible in the sukashi.

Mimi also has a lot of interesting linear activity that I associate with some 4th gen tsuba.

Akasaka Books give this to design primarily to Tadamune (4th Gen retired name).

I could see it being early 5th gen.

If I can catch the linear activity in a photo, I will post a photo of it later.

Comes boxed.

$425 + shipping.   Or I can deliver at the Tampa Show in a few weeks.

I'm a hard core minimalist, and got some shinsa + custom box bills coming up.

Basically $1350 in International postal money orders due to go out soon.

I was going to take 3 or 4 small items to Tampa to sell to meet that funding, but think I will list them here on eBay.

I'll post a nice tachi kake later today.

People moved in on it quick.

I'll post a nice tachi kake later today.

I still intend to post the tachi kake.

Having previously failed to realize my katana kake was signed n dated c. 1754, I thought I should look a little closer on this one tachi kake.

I don't think it could be any older than late 1800s-early 1900s, but was wrong before.

Sure enough, the tachi kake is also marked with what looks like a Kao, signature, other mark.

I've owned it all these years and not realized. It is time for me to get better glasses.

I'll post the tachi kake once I know more.
